On July 7, 1836 Rev. Courtland Van Rensselaer convened a small group of Presbyterians in the city of Burlington to organize a Presbyterian Church.

Prior to 1960, the Church building was located on the corner of High and Pearl Streets in Burlington City. The Church had expanded from the original frame building erected in 1836, undergoing many expansions and renovations until it was demolished as part of an urban renewal project.

This congregation has a high priority for mission. In addition to the Italian Mission, our congregation was instrumental in establishing what is now the Providence Presbyterian Church of Bustleton. Several missionaries have also served the Lord from this Church. Courtland Van Rensselaer Hodge, Elsie Campbell Sinclair Hodge, and George Yardley Taylor went to China as missionaries and died martyrs' deaths in the Boxer Rebellion.

The Sanctuary furnishings in use are from the original church added to new furnishings. The Celtic Cross in the Chancel is made from oak baseboards from the Burlington City Church.

Improvements since our 150th anniversary include; increased mission giving, a growing Christian education program, new carillon, two new stained glass windows, carpeting in the Sanctuary, air conditioning throughout the building, and a deeper commitment to serving God as faithfully as we can.

We have a wonderful past to draw from, but an even more exciting and living ministry today. We look forward to other ways we can share the Good News in Burlington and serve our Lord Jesus Christ and are committed to following his teachings as guided by the power of the Holy Spirit.  All we do in our congregation is for the honor and glory of God.  We are a small, but very caring and loving congregation that is committed to ministry. There are always ways available for each and every person to be part of the priesthood of all believers. We care about each other and feel is it a joy to be here together!
